Artist’s
Statement
My carved and painted wood tableaux
are reflections of my observations on contemporary life.
Often conceived as visual puns, they are vehicles for
expressing the quirkiness and irony of contemporary life.
The pieces often explore our use of language in a literal
sense, conjuring up some rather absurd imagery, but they
are intended to resonate on more than one level. To the
casual observer, the works appear amusing and toy like;
but further examination
reveals an underlying comment
on some aspect of the human condition. In this way,
I
have addressed environmental,
political and social themes. |
